thanksgiving trip day 2

2nd day (26th Nov, thanksgiving day)
we got up at 9-ish/10-ish...then we planned to go for the ridiculously priced roti canai at Peninsula, a malaysian owned restaurant...even though a PIECE of roti canai is charged USD4, we still want to try....you cant blame us who drove 6-7 hours from a KAMPUNG!!!
but all the shops were closed on thanksgiving day...
too bad...no roti canai...no ice kacang/cendol or whatever they served there!!!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

so we end up at the nearest vietnamese noodle place for brunch...was reluctant to go but there were no other choices cz we have vietnamese noodles in lincoln too!!!! >.<
but but but!!!!
it was far far far better than i expected!!!
woot!!

*prison break 2* = Duck meat + duck wanton fat noodles soup

have been contacting wan yi see how we should meet up but still fail...cz i dont even know where were we...and what are we going to do....
everywhere we sit down together, i'm the secretary to jot down our "itinerary" but everytime till where should we have our meals we sure stop and wandered off....

so in the end i decided to meet wan yi at MOA (mall of america) after our visit to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden...

it's like a must you visit this in MN cz in almost every students' trip to MN, they will visit this place... :)

there's actually a fish sculpture inside the building

then we went to MOA hoping to do some early shopping!

OMG

car park is empty, shops are not open...

so i tried to contact wan yi again but my phone died on me! wtf!! when i get to contact wan yi she says 30 more mins!
okay so i told all of them to wait for another 30 more mins then we can leave MOA...
when 30 mins come, i called wan yi again!!
and she still cant get a bus!!!!

omgwtfbbq!!

communication breakdown!! =.=" i thought she was on the bus and will be there in 30 mins! i didnt know she hasnt got on to the bus yet...

so we decided to not meet at MOA and leave to tour downtown....

from bloomington we went back to the hotel and parked the car at the hotel and WALKED to sight see the downtown of Minneapolis...

and i just knew that TWIN CITIES of Minnesota consists of MINNEAPOLIS and ST PAUL...Minneapolis is the modern city and St Paul is the old and traditional city... OMG LOVE!!

the city was empty as probably families were busy having their turkey dinner at HOME...unlike us roaming around in downtown...

and one thing i fell in love with this city was the buildings in the city were all connected! they have sky walks connecting every building in the city...WE DO NOT NEED TO WALK IN THE
COLD!!! woot!!!

but at some points we have to get out from the building and walk on the streets because it was thanksgiving...some gates were closed....

BUT we were just a bunch of lucky people to have a good weather to walk in....

then we reached the tram!! OMG LOVE...

okay i sound more and more like a "jakun"..crap! who asked lincoln to not have such cool stuff

so we were there figuring out what ticket should we get...so we end up with...

the 50 cents one!!! HAHAHAHHAHA

and get off the next stop which we could actually WALKED there!!!!

LOL

WE JUST WANNA GET THE HANG OUT OF IT! *treat us as some kampung folks arrive in the city, can?*

so we walked along Nicollete Mall (a street) which was supposed to be quite happening but again thanksgiving day! no shops were open...so we end up back to hotel to grab our cars for dinner...

the dinner place was PACKED....a table of malays!! hmmmmmmmmm...that restaurant serves PORK!!! i wonder why are they even there....?!?! :p

*prison break 3* = PAGODA
see roast duck?!

after all the phone calls with wan yi, all the changes of location to meet
we finally met up at pagoda with yijing and the bunch of wisconsin people! they were supposed to be at peninsula and apparently they managed to book a table there when they planned to close on thanksgiving day....LOL
the familiar faces that did not appear in this blog for more than a year! :)

the nilai intians :)

then we head back to our hotel for a quick shower and left for our shopping "war" at the Albertville Premium Outlet at 930pm...

we checked online that the sales will start at 12midnight...assuming traffic jam and search for a parking and etc, to leave at 9.30pm, 45 mins drive, we should be " in time" for the sales rush...

see the long small little head lights bee line? cute... see how kiasu (scared to lose) we are! we are so much in front! :p

oh wait not very kiasu cz...

there are even more kiasu people on earth! crazy k! line up just for...

COACH!
they brought blankets, chairs, etc just to queue for this coach handbag!!! and they only allow certain number of customers in the shop...

sorry, michelle lam is not that kiasu plus i'm kiasi (scared to die) cz it's freaking cold just to stand there ok! =.=

i know we're mad enough to do midnight shopping and that's what we should experience ONCE IN A LIFETIME but not for handbags...
walking around in an open air outlet, wearing only fall jacket, when the temperature hits single digit or maybe slightly below 0C is really an experience you cant buy!

we ended our shopping spree at the outlet by 5am...and back to the hotel for some rest....

:))))

stay tuned for thanksgiving trip day 3

thanksgiving trip day 1

the trip i didnt expect to go turned out (i ran out of words) it's better than fantastic/awesome/good/etc...seriously it was like a tour to paradise!
since the ex-AUP club members ditched the plans to meet up, i dont know what should i do for thanksgiving too and i was DESPERATE to leave the hell out of Lincoln. in the end i joined a group of 7 to MN (Minnesota).

we have fair numbers of guys and girls, same level of "shop-aholism" and "camwhorism" among all, we agree to everything, we were always on time, not that we were strict with our timings but we managed to sight see a lot. :)
compared to my last MN trip, that was like a disaster. enough said. hate that :(

1st day (25th Nov, thanksgiving eve)
eng hong and ian went to get the cars early morning. KC messaged me to be ready at 10am...
everybody was there by 10am! woot! *love*
we had mcd breakfast since few of us were not so lucky to have luchelle to cook breakfast! haha..
at 11am we left Lincoln...heading towards I-80 (the usual interstate to go IA, MN)

ian, kc, chia sin n i in our chevrolet malibu...
way loon, luchelle, celestine, eng hong in their ford impala...
we look like some rich kids driving big cars ok...damn cool!
truth is ugly... (those cars were rented) XD

since we didnt really meet each other during school days, we had so much to catch up on the way there. :) we chat/accompany ian(the driver) so he wont fall asleep! haha...
actually not really accompanying...see...thanks to KC though...

and his new dai-gor-dai to communicate with the other driver...cool huh!

when we reached des moines for restroom, ice started to fall, kind of like hail storm. o.o!!! most of us assume weather in MN will be fine so our thickest jacket was our fall jacket...craziness! we were supposed to have indian buffet but we were late so we skipped lunch...expected for a better dinner! muahahahahaha

when we were still in iowa, it was snowing like dogs and cats on the interstate! omgwtf...!!!

*remember our fall jackets??*

anyway we arrived at downtown Minneapolis at about 6pm with clear weather...checked into the hotel...
o.o
HILTON garden... hahahahaha but still under Hilton k!
woot!!

4 girls to a room; 4 boys to another room. we didnt get rooms next door though...wasted!

then we met up with celestine's friend, Geok Simm (whom i just knew she's from penang as well) at a Korean restaurant

omg love!

*prison break 1* = korean food
*slurpppppp*

then she brought us to the Stone Arch bridge.
apparently it's very famous to bring tourists there for night view of downtown.
but it wasnt that "cool"
instead it was FREEZING!
the view was obviously scenic but the wind chill beats everything!
left to right: chia sin, KC, me, eng hong, ian, way loon, luchelle, celestine
only luchelle and celestine have the thickest jacket! o.o

then she brought us to the Guthrie tower
*i've no idea why were we there though*
BUT!!!

we spent most time there!
probably because it was indoor, we have a good photo shoot place, and we are just being sampat cz we dont always go to tall buildings?!
dont look down on this "stairway to heaven" from level 1 to level 4
it has its own purpose...i'll reveal later

then then then
wan yi who walked all the way to look for me!!!! omg love....some more havent taken dinner!

love!!!
then she went for dinner :( didnt really get to catch up with her yet...but i was also quite busy and high taking pictures d...zzz...felt bad for neglecting her...

that's where we spent the hour taking crazy pictures due to the red screen...

after few tries of jumping shot, everyone was tired except chia sin and i....i never fail for jumping shot during trips right! haha

the stone arch bridge from guthrie tower

we are a bunch of people who just love the camera!

it was bout time to leave but...
we still take more pictures at the escalator...

and more sampat pictures...
that's what the "stairway-to-heaven" for... XD

then we headed back by 11-ish for KC to submit his homework.

stay tuned for the thanksgiving trip day 2
