mozzies?

since i'm so lovable among the mosquitoes, i went to search on why mosquitoes bite me but not my sister! =(

i end up with this...i dunno how true is this, i'm not sure how credible is this but is interesting

What attracts mosquitoes?

Carbon Dioxide

Carbon dioxide from the breath of humans and animals helps mosquitoes to find their prey. A burning candle or other fire is another source of carbon dioxide. However, CO2 alone is not enough to attract mosquitoes.

Lactic Acid
Everyone of us releases lactic acid when exercising or consuming particular foods. This chemical is used in some of mosquito traps as an attractant.

Octenol

When people and animals breathe, they exhale mixture of carbon dioxide and octenol, which is actually a type ofalcohol. Octenol is sometimes described as 'cow’s breath in a can', and is a remarkable lure for mosquitoes. Mosquitoes and other biting insects have extremely-sensitive receptors that can detect this chemical from almost 100 feet away.

Body heat

Circulating blood in animals and humans radiates body heat. As mosquitoes have sophisticated heat sensors, they follow body heat and exhaled gases and fly to their target. The exact temperature depends on the type of mosquito.

Moisture

During breathing people also exhale water vapor and perspiration is produced during active movement. Even small amounts of water will attract mosquitoes as it could mean possible blood source or possible breading site.

Movement

Mosquitoes can see their victims from within 30 feet by locating the changes in waves of light around them, caused by moving objects.

Color

Mosquitoes are attracted to dark colors, so wearing dark is not the best thing if you want to avoid being bitten. Dark foliage is another attractant.

Sound
Although some of mosquito trap manufacturers state that they use mosquito attracting or repelling sounds, scientists have proven there is no particular sound frequency that would be interesting to mosquitoes.

Scientific experiments show that only one of mentioned sources is not enough for mosquitoes to react – combination of several things as carbon dioxide, lactic acid and octenol attracts mosquitoes best.

One of the studies by entomologist Daniel L. Kline showed that worn human socks alone attracted very few mosquitoes. However, a significant increase occurred to CO2-baited traps when combined with a worn sock for most mosquitoes, including species of Aedes, Anopheles, Coquillettidia, Culex, Culiseta, and Psorophora.

enjoy... =)

appreciate

people tend to appreciate only when you lose something, then that's too late to cry over the spilled milk.

i remember i use to hate chinese classes as much as most my school mates do...i even hate chinese tuition classes because that old man made us memorize so many useless stuff like "语素是语音和语义的结合体,在语法上..." (ignore the back, i actually dont remember the part cz is totally useless to me! but this is true from the book, go check, i challenge you!) like who cares whether you know what is 语素 right?! i believe if doreen reads this, she will laugh! and i remember that old man once said next time we can speak proverbs to others, people will look high on us...

seriously

too bad, i dont remember... =D

after hating it for god damn 11 years of pure suffer! come to think of it, should i still blame my mum for sending me to chinese school, getting the piles of school work, even if i can use chinese to scold someone else? instead of being bullied?!

haha

i shall never regret i learn chinese now! i'm more than thankful i studied chinese!

cz is useful in countries others dont understand you but you understand them....get that?

and yes, i used mandarin to bully others now! muahahahhahahahhahaha

work.mature.

after resting/growing mold/growing mushroom/rot for about a month, i finally found something to do, else perhaps campbell can come and collect mushrooms for me to make more cream soup for my next semester...

yea i'm currently working in my friend's office for the 2 months before i head back to the states and working life is definitely not a perfect life despite the fact that we get pay and can go for more shopping!

i've realize many things throughout the 2-3 weeks here though i'm playing bejeweled and blogging but get paid...that's beside the point

main point is that i realized what i really wanted to do in my future job...

since i've worked before in the dining hall (dish room, food line, checker), lab work, office work and meeting clients to get sales

dining hall makes me physically exhausted after hours in there because you just follow the way you are told.... stack stack stack the bowls, plate, pans! that's it...mind relaxing job! i'm still able to do some homework or readings though muscles ache....but working in the lab makes me mentally drained! after hours in the lab, concentrating on the bacteria, counting the concentration of my copper to kill them *evil laugh*, and many others, felt like i just went for another class! yet i still have to complete my homework and cook meals, more challenging :( haha

anyway i managed to balance with both work and school.. :)

unlike working in the office facing the computer and 4 walls all day long...feeling very unproductive...in this case, my friend's bro's office which is a new one, i'm the only employee :'(

meeting clients is physically and mentally exhausted after driving in and out, up and down...

however,

comparatively among these 4 jobs i still like my lab work the most though i do not have many friends as the lab has only 4 of us (professor, christophe, andrea and myself), by the time i'm back to the states, there is only 3 of us left (andrea is back to german) :( christophe is really a good boss, i realize and i appreciate now :) (if he sees this he will be darn happy! haha)

not surprise that some scientists are like those mad scientists we see in the cartoon because the poeple they meet are few, the minutes they talk to others are even less and they spent most of their time experimenting to get new and better results....the question is, without scientist, do i get to see in the dark if i dont have a candle?

mad scientist smiling

hahaha....too bad i love that! i'm still thinking of my cancer research (havent decide on which cancer to go into yet) if i'm going to grad school! i guess i'm gonna love that but mum suggested me to study about skin because nowadays women can't be less vain! =D i shall think again... =)

anyway, i also actually kinda like sales though i kinda screwed up my 1st time...haha...but i like to go out to meet people and listen to their stories....they gave me more ideas about the working world....and i also learned that when there's more questions bombarded towards you, they are more keen to know more about you! i hate being bombarded with so many questions but turn around they seem to be keen to know more about my product! how cool

more or less, now i know a little bit more bout working with more mature people! :)

more to learn...

BUT studying life is still the best. seriously.

working people work even if i'm on summer or winter break! how cool... =p

one fine MIDNIGHT, this good guy friend of mine sent me a link bout the jeans he adore so much..being a good friend of his, i went in to view and gave comments to him

fine...i've done my job...

i went to browse through the "for her" section and i found that

"NOW $9.99"

went in and there's this red line saying "Take 30% Off! Discount Applied In Cart"

holy crap!!!

seriously wrong timing!!! it was midnight and i have to go into the office the next day!!! T.T

then i put in on hold and went to bed at 2.30am, partly also caffeine kicked in... =.=" (caffeine is now working well on me >.<)

the next day i told wan yi about it....and we ended up with few tops...our "midvalley outing"
