school is done

i couldn't believe first semester of school is done for this academic year (academic year starts in fall in the states..don't ask me why cz americans are always weird, i'll post more on this)

i had a pretty rough semester when i'm here, first time away from home thousands of miles...i visited the damn health center n-times for no good reasons, all thanks to those small and weird matters which are hell so annoying that i almost wanted to burn the damn building down cz i felt that it was totally a curse for me to keep going back!!! =(

apart from that, school work was fine...i did pretty well i guess for this semester...i had an A for career in biochem, A- for english, B for chem and physics too...=) i'm definitely not in the dean's list anymore as what i aimed to get in the beginning of the semester but heck i'm proud of myself from surviving the quantitative analysis misery!! heck, don't ask me anything from that class now, i've returned all to dr. redepenning... =( *teary eyes*

i studied more than in inti now (oops,i revealed my secret!)...awwww.....i stayed in the library for hours facing the same piles of books and notes until so much so i feel like puking in mid way...too bad i reap what i sow, i get the scores i want! =)

anyway, i had fun in my lab classes though cz i really had good friends taking good care of me and i have the bestest TA (teaching assistant) for my chem in the world!! he is really good, in other words, he helps us a lot... =D he is 24, studying his PhD in unl, still single i think (i stalk on people at times which made me a quite good paparazzi)...just joking, i randomly found him in facebook!! in contrast to the other devilish TA, who is 10 yrs older than him, and treats his students with his evil smile, i felt so blessed... =D

there goes a semester in US with 3.231...pretty happy though.... =D

in the end no kids came by for trick or treat...but many kids went to bf's place for trick or treat though...and i treat myself with all the chocolates i bought...ho ho ho

thanksgiving

another outdated post.. =)

thanksgiving is a BIG celebration in the states because of the pilgrims last time ... (find out yourself, is interesting)

the traditional meal will be turkey, carousel, mashed potatoes, pies etc etc etc

so...

the stupid university dining halls have the thanksgiving dinner on thursday (not my working day)...my supervisor, tom (well known to be a gay there,lolzzz), asked us to work due to shortage of man power in the dishroom....

and...

cz of $$$, i AGREED...but i regretted after that...on normal days, the number of people will reach approximately 600 but on thanksgiving dinner, it reached 1136!!! closed to double...the plates, bowls, glasses came NON-STOP!!!

in the end, i was still happy cz i see $$$ =D

joel, another supervisor, saved some cold food for us =( but it tasted not too bad...there were turkey, mashed potatoes, pies, casserole like those traditional food...

the next day, friday, chia sin and i went for the international student fellowship thanksgiving dinner again for fun...and again turkey was served, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole etc etc etc... =/

we had fun though especially when we were discussing about our own culture with the others...something like

and we answered hari gawai as an ocassion something like thanksgiving! what the hell...we crapped so much! and even till chinese new year cz is a reunion for the family like them having reunion with the family during thanksgiving! lolzzz


then chia sin and i went off to kansas city with megan and her friend, also, michelle =)

megan's family was so nice!! her parents accompanied us throughout the whole break, talking to us, knowing more about us and bringing us around....really nice family...

the next day we went to a church place for pancakes breakfast...is not an american culture but a culture for the langfords... =D the black stuff is burnt pork sausages, nothing gross... =p

heidi, megan's mum, taught us on how to roast the turkey =) dad, see this!!
and i just came to know that there's 2 types of meat in a turkey after roasting, the top part will be white meat and the bottom part will be dark meat and is due to all those haemoglobin in the turkey...

we had dinner at 3 and finish cleaning up by 4.30pm...we left the house to kansas city, MO at 5 something for ...

the countdown of thanksgiving? haha...

the town was beautifully litted up with all the lights around the buildings and fireworks but the fireworks lasted for only 5 minutes! =( the sky was so dark but it was only 6pm

birthday post =)

i know my birthday was like wayyyyy back in october and i should have blogged it during thanksgiving brake break....too bad, lazy bugs attacked + thanksgiving SALES + busy in friend's place + etc etc etc... =p

this year's birthday was not as fun as last year though but i've received lots of presents including one very very very unexpected gift... =) or =( ??

i jokingly asked boyfriend to bake me an edible birthday cake using anything he can find or just use the pre mixed flour...he was just too cute to go buy flour, sugar, butter, vanilla extract and whatever he thinks he can add into it...and texted me, COME OVER NOW! I'VE BAKED CAKES FOR YOU!!! awww *teary eyes* (hah, as if! =p)

so i went there, i thought was just one cake...but there were 3 cakes! 1 with vanilla essence, 1 without and 1 failure strawberry ice cream cake which in the end turned out to be strawberry hard flour mix....=D

the one which looked more perfectly is with vanilla and the other with a hole pinched by someone is without vanilla essence...look nice for a 1st timer right =)

the very contradicitng outfit the people wear...some with coat/sweater, some with t shirt and the photographer was actually topless...boyfriend's housemates and friends...i'm still the only girl!! =(

is supposed to be michelle lam but my name was too long for them to write on the cake so it became ML...is just my initials, dont think more than that =p

i had no choice but to give them thumbs up cz it really tasted good....they made it without recipe book too!! just by feel...

on my birthday, we had spaghetti for lunch cz it was a stupid MONDAY and i have full day of classes from 930-620...and boyfriend has work at 5-9...so we could only have lunch....

happy 20th birthday to me...

awwww i joined the BIG TWO list....sadly i'm still underage!! wat the hell!!! US actually changed their legal age from 18 to 21!!! whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy???

i waited for this chance to have the header because i wasn't that pro last time and i simply clicked on something and my blog went haywire and all these while i'm only changing the html codes which sucked big time!!!


can see the difference between the new and old blog? the new one has layout and the old one has templates...the layout button is for lazy people to edit their html codes like me (supposed to be) but i smartly clicked something and it became templates...so i have to be hardworking to code myself... =.=

so welcome to my new layout and bye bye autumn...
