random thoughts ...

of a penultimate year student...yes i am in this category...

and i am quite freaked out and terrified by how time flies now...i have just a year to my graduation...

it's like hallelujah!! my turn for that mortar board! my turn to go up to that stage to get my few-hundred-thousand-dollar piece of paper!!! it's time...FINALLY!!

but on other thoughts, yes, it's just this close towards the working world..!!

and i find that now it's the best time to start building network, prepare myself for the next stage...

i have to throw myself out from that comfort zone which i find that this is the most challenging task and what i fear most! i'm so contented to be protected...

from the time, when i call myself,

"hey i'm just a sophomore!".."wow that's nice! enjoy your college!"

then to the time i said,

"oh wait i'm still a junior!"

that's the time when people expect you to have some working experience, not just a custodian or cashier kind of experience...

and now i have to say,

"i'm already a senior..i will finish by next may!"

the time when i should be out there getting to know more people for the future...

i hate to move out from the comfort zone...i want to be with my friends...i mean, who doesnt?

to throw myself out of this comfort zone, talking to working class people, no more "hanky panky" kind of student thing...it's not easy, i know...

soon enough i have to present posters in conferences, how not to freaked out! its such a big step for me to crawl out from my just-writing-reports life...and i HATE to speak (formally)!

it's just so uncomfortable

but i always believe that "if you feel uncomfortable, you're growing!"

it's true! think of when your teeth is growing, you feel uncomfortable too!

so yea i've started thinking a little more than just to reach my bachelor's...how am i going to survive that stage...how am i going to deal with all the working people...my life will be wake up, work, dinner, rest, sleep and the routine continues...

then i realized sports is one of the best tactic to master to maintain good relationship with your clients/colleagues etc...

in general,

business people plays golf or probably tennis like those in dramas to "socialize" or rather a more relaxing business talk...

science people plays racket games to release stress?

students BOIL DRAMA & COMPUTER GAMES & PARTY...

i dont mean to offend anybody but the fact is that when you're out from school, there's no such thing as computer games anymore! who in this working world "socialize" with computer games! that's what students do and not working class people do! probably there is but i've not came across yet

students watch dramas, yes i am one of them, it's normal for a student!

students play computer games, that's their interest, it's normal and i've tried playing too...

students party over the weekend, get themselves drunk and hang over the next day...it's a norm...i drink too! just that i havent reach the stage of getting drunk and puke and having terrible headache the next day (i should try one day =p)

but as we grow up, we have to change...and this is the time we have to do something!

one more year for us to master some skills...

one more year to start building the network...

one more year for us to prepare and face the bigger challenge...

and this one year is going to come fast!

if in this one year, you dont prepare yourself, socializing in future will be hard...imagine when your colleagues spontaneously say hey let's go for badminton/tennis/squash/snooker/golf or whatever they come in mind, after work...and you reject them cz you dont know anything?!

i'm lucky my parents send me for tennis...but they didnt send me for badminton classes nor squash...i played more badminton now in college, tried my 1st ultimate frisbee experience last night, tried my 1st time of squash in college, my pool/snooker in college, learn how to putt that golf ball from dad in high school just for curiosity...at least even if i'm half a bucket or not even half, i still can say heyyy i'm not good but i think i can do it!!

the point is that, dont waste your time with unnecessary stuff before you step out of school...you wont find much time to learn other skills when you're working...

perhaps i'm thinking a little more but i wont deny that's the fact...
