i fell in love with ...

the retreat conference...

it was wayyyyyy too awesome!!! my first trip ever with NO malaysians...

reached at 6.30pm because we were at LINCOLN bar for some drinks before we left...just in time for DINNER!!! =)

open bar!!! o.o NO ID REQUIRED!!!!! woot!!! and it's free flow of drinks...

what's the difference?

all the lazy men!! *my big boss is always ever ready for the camera!*

since the place has the perfect lightings for camera, played around with the angles and lightings... =)

the room which costs $145 but i dont have to pay a single cent... *love*

since we dont have any activities on during the first night...and there was nothing to do in NEBRASKA CITY...

just as well there's this...24 hours supercenter...

and so, we got

our dose of alcohol...

i have only a cup of vodka + lemonade...i'm a good girl.... =)

the next morning, after breakfast (supposedly 7-9am, but we were there at 8.45am..HAHAHA) we went to register ourselves...

name tags in the US are stickers...just get used to it... =)

the real purpose of the retreat...science talkssss =/

after 1 1/2hr of 1st session of talks, we have our lunch at 12noon...but breakfast was at 9am, remember?! o.o

after lunch, we took a stroll outside to get some fresh air (at least for me) but for pollen allergy dudes, they suffered from the "ejaculation from the male tree"...

"WHY DO THEY (the plants) WANT TO FUCK (pollens flying) ON ME!" =D

green grass, blue sky, sun shine, cooling breeze...what more do you ask for?

then followed by guest speaker for an hour, coffee break 1/2hr, session 2 of talks for 1 1/2 hr, coffee break 1/2hr

poster presentation for 1 1/2 hr

i've got the best boss ever... =D

dinner 1 1/2 hr,

my red wine during dinner =)

session 3 of talks for 1 1/2hr...

poster presentation and award presentation 1 1/2 hr... pretty intense saturday...

but look what's that in their hands? tsk tsk tsk....

poster done by christophe...poor dude did this for 4 days...but thanks for doing my part and put my name there! :p

we actually could have won the best poster, the poster judge aka my professor, said it was the best poster BUT

since christophe won the best poster last year, so none of our posters were in the list...that also explains why my professor is the poster judge.... =/

although it was all about science, overall it was great...

i've learned so much from this conference + retreat even though more than half of those talks were not even close to related with our field of research

and of cz i had fun

retreat: perfectly relaxing!

conference: learned about presentation and poster techniques, and new knowledge from the presentation

experience: learned to talk to other faculty members, learned to present my part of results

presenting posters and presentations are not an easy task but the reward of it is you'll get the feedbacks and ideas from other experts in this field...

it gave me another perspective of view towards this working line in future....

seriously until now i dont even know how i ended myself in MICROBIOLOGY, dealing with bacteria and yeast almost everyday BUT i love my team...

and i find this research topic is becoming more interesting...it's gaining interest of many

therefore, i'm once again ATTACHED ...

to work lahhhh... duhh!! :p

now i really dont mind that i dont get fundings over summer/in future (i almost made it came true as i forget to submit my 2nd year agreement form, FML), what i mind more is the results i get...

i want to get more results to make my own poster! i want to be part of the paper for publication...

that's the main goal...

i'm so gonna work my ass off this summer to get as much results as i could...i wanna get most of the side projects done by this summer and be proud of my work!

oh ya...still interested to know what's the difference between the drink in the jug and the glass?

the one in the jug is just ICE TEA!

the one in the glass is beer...

NO DIFFERENCE? haha
